About

I am Francesco, a computer science student based in Cesena, Italy. I write systems software in C and Rust. I have about eight years with C and two with Rust.

I started with PHP around 2016. From there I moved toward systems: work on the Linux kernel, custom ROMs for Android phones, custom kernels for my computers and phones, and a long period with Hackintosh setups where boot, ACPI tables, and drivers had to be understood to get a working machine. I used Gentoo and Arch for years. I now do most of my work on a MacBook with macOS, which is also what drew me into ARM64 work.

My current projects are fshell, a Unix shell that keeps familiar sh syntax and passes typed values between commands; my fork of Shadlix, itself a Bloodborne-focused fork of shadPS4, where I work on the native AArch64 JIT and runtime; and flanger, a small language frontend where I am learning lexer, parser, and diagnostics work from the ground up.

I care about programming languages, operating systems, and how software runs on different hardware. This site is my public log for that work. It is mostly a personal record, and a place to point peers and future internships to.
